The heat is then sent into the house via in floor radiant heating, radiant baseboards or forced air vents.

An outside wood furnace may also be used to furnish water for the home's hot water heater, or even a pool. And moreover, all the mess is outside. However it'll need some trenching done to let the insulated pipes carrying the hot water to the house to be laid.
